Part-time Nursery Position

St. Cuthbert’s, Leaside Anglican Church is a welcoming, vibrant community of people of all ages and backgrounds. We gather to worship God and we seek to support one another in our journey of faith as well as making a difference in the wider community by serving others.

St. Cuthbert’s is currently seeking a creative, enthusiastic and dedicated part-time Nursery worker to provide our infants, toddlers and preschoolers with solid Christian formation every Sunday morning during our 10 am service and to assist with nursery care during occasional services and events outside of Sunday mornings.

Qualifications Required:

  • Passion for working with infants and young children
  • Education/training or experience in child/infant supervision, ECE and/or ECA is an asset
  • Exceptional communication skills and teaching skills
  • Knowledge of Christian education an asset
  • Ability to work as a team member
  • Good organizational and time management skills
  • Dependable and trustworthy
  • Valid First Aid/CPR Certificate
  • Ability to work Sundays

Position Responsibilities:

  • Supervise St. Cuthbert’s nursery program in consultation with our Priest and Pastor, our Church Kids teachers and the Family Ministry Coordinator
  • Ensure a safe and welcoming drop-off and pick-up of children
  • Cultivate and maintain effective relationships with parents
  • Nurture the spiritual formation of our infants and toddlers through stories, games, songs, dramatic play and arts and crafts
  • Supervise volunteer nursery assistants as required
  • Provide appropriate supervision of infants during church services and church events as required
  • Communicate and liaise with volunteers, parents and the Family Ministry Coordinator and our Priest and Pastor
  • Ensure that toys and nursery supplies are clean, safe and appropriate and that the nursery and family spaces are both safe, clean environments for children, visitors and families of the parish
  • Attend meetings as required
  • Implement and follow all protocols and procedures regarding safety and programming as directed
  • Other duties as are mutually agreed upon

Additional Information: The successful candidate must comply with all of the Diocese of Toronto’s Policies including, but not limited to, the Screening in Faith police record check, the Sexual Misconduct Policy and Workplace Harassment Policy.

Salary: $19-$22 per hour based on experience and qualifications

Job status: Part-time: 4 hours per week with 3 hours on site each Sunday from 9 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. from September until June. Additional hours may be assigned during start-up, end of year, liturgical feast days and church events with mutual agreement between the Supervisor and the Coordinator of Family Ministry.
