Rector – St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Edmonton (full-time)

Website Anglican Diocese of Edmonton

The Bishop of Edmonton invites applications for the full-time position of Rector of St. Paul’s in Edmonton

St. Paul’s has structured their parish profile around their Narrative Statement of Identity, and they seek someone for whom it deeply resonates.

“We love to be together, persevere, and practice the ways of Jesus together. Even though we’re at different places on our journey, we share a guiding story as given through the Bible, and we all look for Jesus in each other and in the world we live in. We share faith, we share music, we share differences, and above all we share God’s love of us in Jesus. We all give; we all receive. We are a diverse family who laughs, cries, and prays together, and is learning how to love and care for each other. Our greatest ambition is to share this love with everyone around us – in our neighbourhoods and around the world.”

They seek a Rector with experience in:

Leadership and Parish Administration

  • “We seek someone with leadership experience and familiarity with running a parish. Also, we seek an individual who recognizes their own limitations and is humble enough to acknowledge what they need to be an effective Rector.”

Prayerful living and faithful encouragement

  • “An essential quality for our new Rector is a deep and genuine faith that follows the way of Jesus, guided by the Holy Spirit. Prayer should not only be a practice, but a way of life. Additionally, we seek a Rector who will help us explore the story revealed in Scripture and support our growth in understanding and living out God’s grace and love… We desire a Rector who will walk with us as we strive to be a church that reflects the heart of God in all that we do.”

Community encouragement and community engagement

  • “Encouraging our community to extend a warm and genuine welcome to all who enter our doors. With an aging demographic and some facing volunteer burn-out, we are excited about the influx of young families joining our community. It is crucial that our Rector fosters an environment where newcomers feel truly welcomed and are inspired to get involved.”

“Finally, we seek a Rector who will encourage and support us in living out Jesus’ call to be God’s love in this world. At our core, we are a church committed to reconciliation and engagement with the world around us.”
