Rector (Full-Time), Diocese of Nova Scotia & Prince Edward Island

Website Anglican Diocese of Nova Scotia & Prince Edward Island

The Anglican Parishes of St. John’s and St. Nicholas, located in Bedford West within the vibrant Halifax region, are seeking a faithful, creative, and collaborative full-time Rector to lead our united and growing congregation.

In early 2025, St. Nicholas joyfully joined St. John’s in shared worship and ministry. While remaining two parishes canonically, we now gather as one warm, welcoming, and forward-looking community, rooted in Christ and committed to inclusivity, fellowship, and service.

Who We Are

Founded in 1839, St. John’s has faithfully served the Halifax Mainland West region for over 185 years. Now located at 2187 Larry Uteck Boulevard (since 2013), we worship in a modern, fully accessible facility that supports vibrant liturgy, community gatherings, and outreach. St. John’s also stewards a historic 12.5-acre cemetery, a non-denominational “Community Burial Ground since 1839,” serving thousands of families across generations.

St. Nicholas brings a rich and faithful history of Anglican witness and community ministry. For decades, St. Nicholas nurtured strong lay leadership, vibrant worship, and deep fellowship. In 2025, after a season of discernment, the parish sold its building and entered into a joyful partnership with St. John’s. Approximately 30% of our weekly congregation are former St. Nicholas members, whose faith, traditions, and spirit continue to shape our shared life. Their legacy of outreach, hospitality, and resilience remains an integral part of who we are becoming together.

Together, we define ourselves as a diverse, open, and welcoming Anglican community for all who wish to deepen their relationship with Christ. We value thoughtful preaching, meaningful and consistent liturgy open to modern expression, multigenerational participation, and active lay involvement in ministry and leadership.
