Summary

Atlantic School of Theology is searching for a skilled, detail-focused, and collaborative individual to fill the position of Communications Manager. Working out of the university’s Advancement department, the Communications Manager will play a vital role in serving both internal and external stakeholders to support stakeholder engagement, student recruitment, and fundraising.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create and manage regular communication outputs, such as social media, newsletter, web page updates, videos, emails, etc. in a timely manner
  • Oversee work with internal stakeholders and external experts to redevelop the university’s web presence.
  • Coordinate communications for AST staff members and faculty, from all projects and teams
  • Develop, manage and report regularly on detailed activity, performance, and outcomes of AST communications and maintain clear processes for submission and tracking of communications tasks internally and externally
  • Serve as the university’s media contact. Develop and follow up on press releases. Cultivate and steward relationships with the media to maximize paid and earned media exposure.
  • Manage, curate and create all advertising design and content including ads, photos, videos, digital toolkits, etc.
  • Develop and maintain internal communications channels with staff, faculty and students.
  • Other duties as assigned to support the Advancement work of the University.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Relevant college diploma or university degree or equivalent.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in communications for a non-profit organization.

Preferred Skills

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to communicate effectively and comfortably with diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience in social media coordination and digital storytelling.
  • Familiarity with intermediate-level web design best practices.
  • Strong knowledge of digital marketing, analytics, and campaign development.
  • Maturity with discretion and judgment in handling confidential information.
  • Familiarity with post-secondary education and/or one of AST’s founding parties (United Church of Canada, Roman Catholic Church, Anglican Church of Canada) is important
  • Strong computer proficiency, including Microsoft Suite, Canva, Constant Contact, and relevant content planning tools.
