Incumbent, Shared Ministry, St. Mary, York and Marysville

Website Diocesan Synod of Fredericton

Followers of Jesus sharing hope and help.

The Bishop of Fredericton seeks to appoint a full-time priest to a shared incumbency between two parishes in the Diocese of Fredericton: St. Mary, York and Marysville.

These neighbouring single-point parishes are located approximately two kilometres apart in the north-east area of the capital City of Fredericton. They have been sharing an incumbent for just over two years, but desire to keep their individual identities.

St. Mary, York, is a traditional parish in worship style. The current St. Mary’s church building, built in 1977, includes a hall and recently renovated kitchen and entry space. Parishioners have developed a food forest adjacent to the building as part of their core mission of supporting marginalized individuals. A rectory is located next to the church.

The Parish of Marysville worships at All Saints, built in 1899 and with major extensions added in 1967. Worship is from both the BCP and BAS. They consider themselves “a country church in the city” and are very involved in outreach within their local community, a former suburb, and the city.

Please include the following in an expression of interest.

  • A Curriculum Vitae.
  • A written statement of about 500 words outlining why you are being called to explore this opportunity.
  • The names and contact information for three referees prepared to provide information on the cleric’s pastoral skills, his or her interpersonal and communication skills, ability to build community, ministry experience and sensitivity. If you are an Assistant Curate or graduating postulant for ordination, you should give your Rector, supervising priest or mentor as a reference.

Clergy from outside the diocese should confirm that they have their bishop’s permission to explore a possible appointment outside of their own diocese. A confidential reference may also be requested from your diocesan bishop and in addition to other references.

The successful candidate will be required to provide a valid criminal record and vulnerable sector check and may be required to authorize a credit check.
