Rector

Diocese of Central Newfoundland

The Rt. Reverend John Watton is inviting applications for the incumbency of a shared ministry between the Parishes of Gander Bay and Twillingate. The relationship between both parishes is robust, respectful and loving.
Both parishes have been sharing in visioning processes as outlined through the Diocesan “Policy on Sustainable and Intentionally Missional Ministry”, and have made a forward-thinking decision to share the cost of supporting a full-time ministry and housing. At present, both parishes will be maintaining their individual identities.
The Parish of Gander Bay and the Parish of Twillingate each have a deacon. Both of these deacons have servant hearts and are excellent team members.
The laypeople wish to work in partnership with the rector. Clergy are loved and respected, and expectations are clear from the people.
The parishes are looking for a leader who will be an enabler and organizer of lay and diaconal ministries. One point in the parish requires travel by boat.

The parish of Twillingate holds two Churches of historic significance.
All amenities one would desire in relation to families, health care, shopping, education and recreation are available, as both parishes are within approximately 1 hour or less from Gander.

The area is the beautiful North East Coast of the Island portion of Newfoundland and Labrador.
The Congregations in Gander Bay Parish are:

  • Holy Trinity
  • St. George
  • St. John
  • The Churches in Twillingate Parish are:
  • St. Peter
  • St. Mary
  • St. Margaret
  • Twillingate Herring Neck Change islands
  • Wing’s Point (New Building) Boyd’s Cove
