—St George’s describes itself in these words—

  • St. George’s is immensely proud of our Parish, its history and our work in the community
  • We welcome you at St. George’s regardless of your race, age, culture, ethnicity, nationality, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, marital status, previous religious affiliation, or socioeconomic status
  • Open Doors, Open Hearts, Open Minds is not just a catchy slogan. At St George’s, we truly believe in and live by the three statements
  • Our Doors are Open to everyone. We believe diversity provides opportunity for enrichment and growth of faith, knowledge and commitment in all we do
  • Our Hearts are Open to all. The Parish of St George’s embraces the attitude of loving, caring and learning and through our programs and worship, we seek to affirm our faith empowered by these principles
  • Our Minds are Open. We encourage and welcome questions and discussion, valuing all relationships and acknowledge that there is much about this world, our lives and God’s connection to us that we do not know
  • Our Hearts, Minds, and Doors are open to the need for reconciliation.

—Some notable features of the community life include—

  • Eleven years ago, our parish initiated a ministry of opening our doors and hearts to locals and visitors on weekends and statutory holidays
  • 10+ outreach ministries
  • Eco-Pilgrimage: a self-guided tour at the home of one of our parishioners culminating with Eucharist in the church yard and shared dinner
  • In hopes of understanding and bridging barriers with our First Nations brothers and sisters we have held focused discussions on the Doctrine of Discovery, anti-racism, reconciliation and non-violent communication; taken part in the very moving Blanket exercise and the PWRDF Mapping exercise; and participated in the community-wide annual Walk in the Spirit of Reconciliation
  • Over 164 books read in the book club’s nearly 20 year history

—Some qualities the parish is seeking in their next rector are—

  • Someone who thinks beyond attendance numbers at Sunday service
  • Someone who can feed our hearts and minds with the love of God and affirm our faith as we reach out to one another and the community at large
  • Visits folks especially shut-ins, newcomers, and the sick and hurting
