Church Planter & Ministry Coordinator, Diocese of The Arctic

Website Diocese of The Arctic

The Bishop of The Arctic is accepting applications for a mission-minded Church Planter to come alongside a core group of faithful people in Inuvik, to move in and get to know the local people, community, culture, and land, and to lead them forth in fulfilment of the Lord’s Great Commission to make disciples. Faithfulness to scripture and a commitment to sharing the Gospel through friendships are essential qualities.

A really quite wonderful church building and a 3-bedroom mission house are available. There are currently 15-20 people gathering regularly for worship.

This is a full-time position with a 3-year funding commitment. If successful, after 3 years the church plant would have grown and the congregation would continue to qualify for support as an “assisted parish”. We would also consider a part-time position if the candidate believed bi-vocational ministry was an important part of their approach to church planting.

This may be an ordained ministry position, but applications will be accepted from experienced lay leaders and ministry organizers. While the congregation will grow to be a parish of the Anglican Diocese of The Arctic, our first commitment is to Christian discipleship and evangelism through the effective preaching and teaching of God’s Word, with our Anglican tradition as a faithful set of tools that may be used in fulfilment of that work (in other words, it’s OK to apply if you feel called to the work of a church planter, but would need to enroll in our training program to learn more about Anglicanism as you go!).
