St. Dunstan of Canterbury is seeking a talented and creative Director of Music who will lead and nurture vibrant, relevant music for worship services.  The candidate should be a team player with strong interpersonal and organizational skills, working collaboratively with the Rector, an experienced organist and the musical team of volunteers.

The candidate will have a willingness to learn/familiarize themselves with the Anglican Liturgical Tradition.

St Dunstan’s prides itself on its large and committed volunteer choir and the diverse musical expressions and liturgical resources in our repertoire. Music is an essential part of our worshipping community.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Weekly 10:30 am Sunday Eucharist with a 20-minute warm-up before the service
  • Weekly Thursday evening choir rehearsals from early September until the end of May
  • Work with children/youth in the parish to cultivate music throughout the congregation
  • Collaborate on the selection of hymns and choir music based on the lectionary

Additional Services:

  • Community Carol Service (2nd Sunday pm of Dec)
  • Two Christmas Eve services at 5:00 and 8:00 pm
  • Ash Wednesday, Holy Week – multiple services including Easter
  • Weddings and funerals as requested by families
  • Additional occasional services that arise

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated skill in conducting and rehearsing
  • Ability to work with singers of all skill levels
  • Piano/organ with Grade 8 RCM or equivalent proficiency would be an asset
  • A diploma/degree in vocal music from college/university/conservatory would be an asset
  • Knowledge of traditional and contemporary Christian hymnody would be an asset

Employment Details:

  • Part-time position, approximately 15 hours per week
  • Start date:  Advent/December 2026
  • Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications following RCCO guidelines
