August 2024
The Archbishop of Algoma is now accepting applications from qualified and experienced clergy to fill the position of Incumbent at St. Paul’s Anglican Church in Thunder Bay, Ontario. This is a full-time appointment with a compensation package that includes stipend and benefits, a generous living allowance in lieu of a rectory, and a travel allowance.
The St. Paul’s Concurrence Committee have been working diligently on their parish profile for several months. Please visit https://www.dioceseofalgoma.com/about-the-diocese-of-agloma/job-openings/ to view this profile which accurately portrays the rich history of this flagship parish in Algoma, as well as its present realities and hopes for the future.
For years members of St. Paul’s have embraced words from St. Paul’s second letter to the Corinthians as its motto – “Ambassadors for Christ”(2 Cor. 5.20). This motto is visible in their lives together as a community of faith that serves ‘Food for the Soul’. It can be seen through its engagement and service in the wider community as it practices radical hospitality and inclusivity. Reconciliation with indigenous peoples is one of its priorities – a beautiful sacred circle for storytelling and prayer has been created within its worship space.
At present there are 427 individuals on the parish roll who attend this parish from all areas of the city and surrounding areas. The average Sunday attendance at St. Paul’s in 2023 was 85 for the in-person worship services and 75 for those who participated in the livestream.
As St. Paul’s embarks on a new chapter, they are seeking a dynamic and dedicated Rector to lead us forward in our mission as Ambassadors for Christ – to spread God’s grace, love, peace, and compassion to everyone.
The parish is looking for a Rector who:
