Notice of Ministry Position (Clergy)
Diocese of Eastern Newfoundland & Labrador
Parish of St. Thomas’, St. John’s, NL Canada

The Rt. Rev. Samuel Rose is accepting applications for the position of Priest-in-Charge. This position is full-time with a housing allowance.

The Parish of St. Thomas’ is located in St. John’s, the capital city of Newfoundland and Labrador.
The church dates back to 1836, when the need was felt for a second Anglican church in St. John’s to serve the growing population in the city’s east end. From the church’s opening until 1870, St. Thomas’ served as the “Garrison Church”, and the seats in the side galleries were regularly occupied by the garrison’s soldiers. Canon Wood Hall was built next to the church in the late 1800s to provide an area for meetings and other church activities. Sadly, the building was destroyed by fire in 1966. Today’s Canon Wood Hall was actually St. Thomas’ School until the dawn of the public school system in Newfoundland and Labrador, which led to the school’s closure and conversion into a parish hall in 1976.

St. Thomas’ is an active parish with supporting lay leadership. Its Christian outreach and mission extend into many areas of life in the community, the country, and the world.

The effective start date is January 1, 2026 (negotiable)
